Win a copy of “Mobile Design for iPhone and iPad” from Smashing Magazine and Mobile Orchard

Smashing magazine has generously offered our readers a chance to win a copy of their ebook “Mobile Design for iPhone and iPad”. Here is some info on the book:

This e-book presents articles on professional mobile design for the iPhone and iPad, including studies of trends in mobile design and guidelines for the development of mobile web pages. These articles are mostly a selection of the best from Smashing Magazine in 2009 and 2010 dealing with mobile design for the iPhone and iPad plus an exclusive 90-page study about mobile web design trends. They have been carefully edited and are available as a PDF, ePub and Mobipocket.

To win a copy leave a comment on this thread why you would like to win the book and which format you would like, EPUB, MOBI, or PDF. The winners will be chosen this coming Friday. If you don’t want to wait and would rather buy the book (very affordable at $9.90) you can do that here.

    Hey Andy,

It’s an exciting time to be a developer, especially for mobile devices. However, I’m amazed at how many atrociously designed apps there are. As I venture into the field, I want to create great applications that people love using. I’ve followed both Mobile Orchard and Smashing Magazine since their inception, so I reckon a PDF copy of your book would help me do that. Either way, if I don’t win, I’ll be buying it :-)

As an iOS developer with a passion for giving users the best possible experience, this book would be great. EPUB would be the preference if content formatting is not critical (PDF would be better then).

I have been developing iPhone apps for over a year and have just started creating iPad apps, I am always looking to expand my knowledge on this, and am very interested in designing mobile Web Pages for the iPad. $9.90 seems very reasonable as well, so even if I don’t win I may pay for it.

I have a pretty strong background on the native side, but I am looking to expand my knowledge when it comes to developing on these platforms for the web. Thanks for your consideration.

Perfect for me as I am creating an app right now! If I win I would prefer the epub version.

    Aloha,

    Rox

PS I have been trying to subscribe to your podcast and keep getting various errors: time out, 404 error on the raw feed link, “the version you requested is not available in the US store”, etc.

Being able to professionally design for the iPhone and iPad would be a refreshing change compared to just developing without any guidelines. Having access to trends and guidelines would improve the overall development cycle. A PDF version would be great for my development. Thank you.

I’m a young programmer and desingner from Argentina, in our country is very difficult to get good stuff about iphone and ipad, and everything costs a 40% more because the currency change. Here the Iphone development is still very green, and i’d like to get in that fantastic world. Here in Argentina we have many many good ideas, but sometimes they are hard to specify without the correct material.
This material would improve my skills and help me develop fantastic applications for my country and the world.
I’d like to have it in PDF format.

Thanks a lot and happy new year for all your team.

    Leandro
    Buenos Aires, Argentina.

I’m a decent programmer but a pretty bad designer. I don’t want to bring that bad (ugly) habit from the web to a medium that should have even more consideration for UX.

It would be very nice to read the condensed version of guru’s experience during 10 day Russian traditional holidays. Especially if we will get usual -20 (Celsius degrees) outside temp. Reading a nice book is better than vodka! PDF is preferred.

After spending several days trying to figure out what to write to compel you to award me a PDF of your ebook. Couldn’t think of anything witty. I’ve got nowhere else to go and honestly this book will be my bible. And app design is my religion. I guess that makes Steve Jobs Jesus ….or God
